MEDIFIT-PRIMA aims to ensure the food safety and authenticity of traditional Mediterranean foods. The primary focus is on the traceability and authenticity control of Mediterranean foods using state-of-the-art analytical and software technologies. Special attention is given to high-quality products such as honey and cheese, which not only excel in taste but also contribute to biodiversity conservation.

A crucial step toward achieving these goals is the utilization of EPCIS (Electronic Product Code Information Services). EPCIS enables seamless traceability of foods throughout the entire supply chain. Each food item receives a unique electronic identifier, and information regarding origin, production date, and storage conditions is shared in real-time.

In the context of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Fusion, triggered through EPCIS Event Subscription, machine learning models are developed and employed. These models rely on reliable data, such as temperature information for predicting shelf life or spectrometry for identifying origin and contaminants. This innovative method allows real-time monitoring and response to specific events, particularly in the areas of logistics, supply chain management, and quality control.
